Working on Beatles remakes for PEN Publishing

Last month Jim was approached by Adrianne Gonzales of The Rescues to work on a unique project inspired by the recent purchase of the publishing to five Beatles songs by her publishing company PEN. The idea was to take what would normally be seen as untouchable (Beatles songs!) and make them nearly indistinguishable from the original recordings. The project is now being mixed and will be likely popping up in TV/Film in the coming months. In addition Adrianne will be releasing the project through Red Parade Music as an EP.

Jim produces new record from The Young Romans

On March 20th, The Young Romans released their new record “Tiger Child” on Red Parade Music, Jim Roach’s label. In the first week the album was featured in the #1 slot on iTunes Indie Spolight and New Independent Releases categories. The album’s release coincided with the film “Salmon Fishing In The Yemen,” starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt. The band co-wrote the end credit track to the movie with Jim titled “Where You Go.” You can purchase the album “Tiger Child” here.

Jesse Thomas’ new record “War Dancer” enters the Billboard charts after one week.

Jesse Thomas’ record “War Dancer” which was produced by Jim Roach and put out on his label Red Parade Music has entered the Billboard charts. #25 in the ‘New Artist’ category and #14 in the ‘Folk’ category. This is the first full length record released by Red Parade Music. Jesse’s record will be followed up in March by another Red Parade release from The Young Romans. They will be featured at iTunes as the “single of the week” (with a free download) and have the end-credit song in the new movie “Salmon Fishing In The Yemen” starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt!

Coming this March, 2012, CBS pictures is releasing the talked about film “Salmon Fishing In The Yemen,” starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt. Teaming up with the film’s music supervisor (Dave Jordan and his company Format Entertainment), Jim and writing partner Brad Hooks (of The Young Romans) wrote the end title track for the film, while Jim produced and mixed it. The song is called “Where You Go” and it is performed by the band The Young Romans.

Jim has produced and co-written a song called “The Uprising” that is the end title song in the upcoming Emile Hirsch movie The Darkest Hour. He co-wrote the song with good friend and collaborator Brad Hooks from The Young Romans. The movie comes out at Christmas!

Red Parade Music partners with Primary Wave Management

This week Red Parade Music, Jim’s music company, partnered with Primary Wave Talent Management to take over management duties for Red Parade artists The Young Romans. Manager and industry veteran Scott Frazier and Manbir Sodhia will be helping steer the future of the band with the help of Red Parade. Primary Wave is known for managing the careers of CeeLo Green, Steven Tyler and the catalog of Kurt Cobain.

Red Parade Music signs Kingvolt

This summer Jim’s label Red Parade Music signed singer JJ Worthen and his project Kingvolt. The two began pre-production in July and plan on finishing JJ’s first round of new music by the end of August. JJ has recently relocated from his hometown of Houston TX, and is now playing venues around L.A. while making his first record. Like fellow Red Parade artist Jesse Thomas, JJ’s voice is in it’s own category, period. Formally trained in music and opera, JJ brings a refreshing excellence in his several octave vocal ability, as well as his virtuosic guitar playing. It has been noted by several different colleagues that JJ’s voice is like “Freddy Mercury rising from the dead.” Look for his first few songs to be released by the end of summer!

NEWS: 5/2/11 – Back in the studio with Red Parade artist Jesse Thomas

This month Jesse Thomas got started on pre-production and basic tracking with Jim on her first full length record “War Dancers.” Jim found Jesse Thomas nearly two years ago. Since the two teamed up Jesse has been the Starbucks “Pick of the Week” in February 2011 with free download cards in all U.S. and Canada locations, opened for John Mayer, charted at #10 on iTunes singer/songwriter charts, and has had placements on Nickelodeon and MTV. “War Dancers” is tenatively scheduled for release late summer of 2011.
